Stop fiddling with Word templates. Get a proper invoice in seconds.

Your business name and address, customer name and address, a unique invoice number, the date, an itemised list of work and materials, subtotal, VAT (if registered), grand total, payment terms (typically 30 days), and your bank details for BACS payment.
If you are VAT-registered, your invoice must show your VAT number, the VAT rate applied to each line, the VAT amount, and the total including VAT. GraftG handles this automatically from the VAT number in your Settings.
If you work under the Construction Industry Scheme, the invoice should show the CIS deduction on the labour element and the net amount payable. GraftG (Pro plan, £24/month) calculates this at 20% or 30% depending on your registration status.
Instead of filling in a template every time, just text your job details on WhatsApp. GraftG creates a branded PDF invoice with all the right fields — VAT, CIS, payment terms, bank details — and sends it back in seconds. From £14 per month, 14-day free trial.
Free to use, no sign-up. Pick the one that matches how you trade. The Excel versions work out line totals, VAT and CIS for you.
For sole traders who are not VAT registered. Every version has the labelled bank details block.
VAT number, tax point, VAT rate and amount per line. Every version has the labelled bank details block.
Labour and materials split, CIS deduction on labour only, amount payable. Every version has the labelled bank details block.
Google Sheets: open Google Drive, choose New → File upload, pick the Excel version, then open it with Google Sheets. The formulas carry across. Apple Numbers opens the Excel file directly.
Customers pay faster when they don’t have to ask how. Every template above has the same labelled block GraftG prints on real invoices, so nobody mixes up the numbers:
| Account name | The name on the account, exactly as your bank has it |
|---|---|
| Sort code | Six digits, written 12-34-56 |
| Account number | Eight digits |
| Account type | Business or Personal — it helps the customer’s banking app match the name |
| Reference | Your invoice number, so you can match the payment |
GOV.UK lists what every invoice needs:
If you’re VAT registered, a full VAT invoice also needs your VAT registration number, the time of supply (tax point) if it differs from the invoice date, the unit price and VAT rate for each line, the total excluding VAT and the total VAT. Sales of £250 or less including VAT can use a simplified VAT invoice. More in the VAT invoice guide.
If you work under CIS, split labour and materials and show the deduction on labour only — the CIS guide has a worked example.

Yes. A VAT invoice must also show your VAT registration number, the tax point if it is different from the invoice date, the VAT rate and amount for each line, the total excluding VAT and the total VAT. Use the VAT invoice template.
A CIS invoice splits labour and materials, shows the CIS deduction on the labour only (20% registered, 30% unregistered, 0% gross) and the amount the contractor actually pays you. Use the CIS invoice template.
