Start it, log materials as you go, end it, invoice it.
The Job Tracker follows a live job from start to finish. It keeps a running total of labour (from the time elapsed and your hourly rate) plus every material you log, then turns it into an invoice.
Text "Start job: Smith Plumbing, 14 Oak Street, bathroom refit". GraftG confirms and starts the clock.
As you buy things, text "Materials: £45 copper pipe". Parking, call-out fees, ULEZ, skip hire and fuel all work too — "£12 parking" — and show as their own charges on the summary and invoice. Reply STATUS any time for the running total.
A job being open doesn't get in the way: "45 miles to Birmingham" logs the trip, "Quote for Mrs Hill…" makes a quote, "Book…" goes in the diary, and questions get answered — only materials and costs ("£45 copper pipe") go on the job. After END JOB, only changes to that job ("make it 5 hours", "add £45 pipe") edit it; anything else is handled as normal with a short reminder that the job is waiting for INVOICE or DONE.
Charge the same call-out every time? Save it once — STANDARD CALL-OUT £45 — and from then on "add call-out" in any job uses it. STANDARD LIST shows what you've saved.
Won the job off a quote? Reply START JOB 0004 (the quote number) and the job pre-fills with the customer and the quoted price. Start one by name and GraftG spots an open quote for that customer and offers to link it.
Text END JOB for a summary (labour + materials + extras + VAT), then INVOICE to generate the PDF. On a quote-linked job the summary shows quoted vs actual, and plain INVOICE bills the QUOTED price — the number your customer agreed. INVOICE ACTUAL bills the recorded time and costs instead. Made a mistake? CANCEL JOB stops it cleanly. In a hurry? END JOB AND INVOICE (or just say "end job and send the invoice") does both in one go — add "7 days" for one-off payment terms.
Something wrong on the END JOB summary? Reply EDIT and just say what to change — "make it 5 hours", "add £45 copper pipe", "scrap the copper pipe", "it’s for Mrs Patel" or "address is 14 Oak Street" — then INVOICE when it’s right. Not ready to bill yet? CLOSE JOB (or DONE) closes it without an invoice, and it waits under “Ready to invoice” at app.graftg.co.uk/quotes until you are.

GraftG tracks one live job per number at a time. End or cancel the current one before starting another.
The live job stays open on WhatsApp so you can come back to it — reply STATUS to check it, then END JOB when you are done. If it sits for 14 days with nothing added to it, it drops off WhatsApp so it can’t get in the way of your other messages. It isn’t lost: it is still listed as Open under Jobs at app.graftg.co.uk, where you can end it and invoice it.
Reply DONE. The job closes without a second invoice, because the quote already billed it. If there were extras beyond the quote, reply INVOICE ACTUAL instead for a separate invoice.
It bills the QUOTED price, because that is the number your customer agreed — any deposit already invoiced is deducted automatically. If you would rather bill the recorded time and materials, reply INVOICE ACTUAL.
