Both sides of CIS, handled from WhatsApp.
The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) means contractors withhold tax from subcontractors' labour and pay it to HMRC. GraftG (Pro) handles both directions: the deduction shown on your own invoices when you're the subbie, and proper payment & deduction statements when you're the contractor paying subbies. GraftG's CIS figures are automated calculations based on what you tell it — they are not tax advice, and you stay responsible for your CIS returns; check with your accountant before filing.
Turn on "CIS subcontractor" in Settings and pick your rate (20% registered / 30% not). Every invoice you raise then shows the CIS deduction on the labour portion and the amount actually payable — so contractors pay you correctly first time.
Text "CIS invoice John's Electrical, labour £800, materials £300". GraftG deducts CIS from the labour only, generates a payment & deduction statement PDF, and tells you what to pay the subbie and what to set aside for HMRC. It remembers each subbie's rate.
Reply CIS REPORT for a running total of deductions suffered (offset against your tax bill) and deductions made (owed to HMRC), from 6 April.
CIS REPORTCIS invoice <name>, labour £x, materials £yNo — CIS applies to the labour element only. GraftG always splits labour and materials and calculates the deduction on labour alone.
20% for registered subcontractors, 30% for unregistered, and 0% for gross-payment status. Say the rate in the message ("…at 30%") or set it once and GraftG remembers it per subbie.
Not yet — it produces the statements and totals so your monthly CIS300 return is a copy-and-paste job for you or your accountant.
CIS tools are included in Pro (£24/month).
